Access to Palomar Health Cancer Institute

Patients with Palomar Health Medical Group can be referred to the Palomar Health Cancer Institute, which provides personalized, high-quality cancer diagnosis, treatment and support services.

Treatment Options

Our highly-skilled physicians and care team will tailor a treatment plan specific for your type of cancer, gender, age, culture and health history/condition. We specialize in treating all types of breast, lung, prostate and gastrointestinal tract cancers.

Options include chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, biological therapy and targeted therapy offered in one, convenient and easy to access location on the campus of Palomar Medical Center Escondido where there is always plenty of free parking.

Physicians

Our growing team of physicians at Palomar Health Medical Group specialize in medical oncology, breast surgery and robotic prostate surgery. They are complimented and supplemented by a team of specialists with the Palomar Health Cancer Institute who provide seamless care where appropriate.

Medical Oncologist

Hardeep Phull, MD, is the director of the medical oncology and infusion program at Palomar Health Medical Group. He has expertise in a variety of hematologic disorders and oncologic malignancies, and remains highly involved in education, mentorship, and leadership in the community. Once diagnosed with cancer, Dr. Phull will collaborate with you on your best treatment options.

Prostate Cancer Surgeon

For men diagnosed with prostate cancer, Julian Anthony, MD, is one of the few urologists in the country to perform laparoscopic formation of neobladders and other urinary diversions after bladder removal for cancer. He is also one of the leading urology surgeons in the use of robotic technology.

Radiation Oncologist

P. Brian Volpp, M.D., MPH is the Medical Director for the Palomar Health Cancer Institute. He is a radiation oncologist and radiosurgeon.

He completed undergraduate work at Princeton University where he graduated cum laude with a degree in history and a certificate in American Studies. He then pursued a dual M.D./MPH program, studying medicine in his adopted home state of Nevada and public health administration at Loma Linda University, where he was selected to the Delta Omega Honor Society.

Head and Neck Surgeon

Dr. Patrick Fitzgerald is a board-certified otolaryngologist, performing neck cancer surgery. He has been in his profession for 25 years and has particular interests in minimally invasive treatments for the paranasal sinuses and has particular experience and interest in thyroid and parathyroid surgery.
